Sleepy Sun - Desert God @ Spaceland, Los Angeles (7.23.2010)
Sleepy Sun is one of the premiere psychedelic bands of today. Their unique blues-injected sound is free-form, effortless, and exists in a space beyond the past, present, and future. It breathes all its own. The Santa Cruz, CA natives, who now root themselves in the San Francisco bay area, played Silverlake's Spaceland at the end of July. This video footage taken from the show captures the raw energy and essence that defines Sleepy Sun.

Brand New - Soco Amaretto Lime @ The Troubadour 7.18.09
Brand New landed at the Troubadour in Hollywood, CA just before the release of their fourth full-length studio album Daisy (Interscope, 2009). They opened with The Shower Scene and went on to play a mixture of old gems and new tunes throughout the night and eventually ended with the full-hearted high school anthem Soco Amaretto Lime (Your Favorite Weapon, Triple Crown 2001). Brand New is one of the few remaining bands from the early post-punk/alternative rock scene that is still active today. If you're fixing for a nostalgic taste of the "good ol' times" or even a gander into something beyond the indifferent pop-punk band you have to check them out there next tour.
